(:

Hey everyone!
Just an update to inform everyone we are happy, healthy, and safe here at the SOA campus! As you all may know we, along with the district, were on a lockdown this morning, but it is now lifted. All programs are running normally today as we maintain our daily schedule. The kids loved KONA ICE, who was on our campus for the duration of the lunch period. For anyone that missed out, Kona Ice will be back again next thursday. Be sure to send your child(ren) with a few extra dollars next week.
Sending our best to all the parents/family of our SMAART students! Hoping everyone is having a great day!!

Also, a bus schedule with updated times has been added, please note that this will begin on Monday (6/22). You will see the new schedule attached.

We will also have a newsletter posted on Friday. Each class will provide updates to what's happening in the program to give you an idea on what is going on day to day in our classes.

Have you SEEN our Buses?

I think in the emails we sent we mentioned the condition of the buses we will be using this summer.  If you have attended SMAART or Summer SAIL before and your child(ren) rode the bus then you know how hot it was and how long some of the bus rides have been.  It has always been a harsh reality for us to put kids on those hot buses on those VERY HOT summer days

I am so very excited to share that the buses we are using this summer are phenomenal.

Every bus is air conditioned!

Every seat has SEAT BELTS!

They also tell me there is wifi and AM/FM radio (not as important to me as the seat belts and AC).

Oops! BUS SCHEDULE!!!

Oh my goodness!  Not sure how we missed it but MOMENTS after hitting SEND on our Parent Email yesterday we realized that we failed to attach the BUS SCHEDULE!

Can you believe it?

No worries.  We are sending another shortly and have attached it here!

In order to find your route you might need to Scroll to the right a little!

We are getting ready for the MAGIC!

Just a few more days now and SMAART and SMAART2 will begin!

We are very excited and have been busy preparing our best year yet.
Please note a few changes:

  1. Our logo is new.
  2. We have added more opportunities for High School students to access really advanced Arts instruction and enhanced the upper level programs - they will now fall under the SMAART2 umbrella.
  3. We are not operating Summer SAIL this year but they will be on campus with us for just this year.  This will not likely be the case next year.
Also, we have added some great SMAART classes this year.  New this year:

  1. StoryBrush-A picture tells a 1000 words
  2. Paper Art
  3. Playwriting and Acting
  4. Contemporary Choreography
  5. 21st Century Jazz
  6. Exploration of Dance

MORE TO COME.

SMAART vs SMAART2

Some of you received more than one program invitation from us, leaving you wondering what is the difference between SMAART and SMAART2 (of course I can't demonstrate the superscript - this is pronounced SMAART squared).

SMAART is Students Mastering their Academic ART; it is an invitation only program for students in grades 4 - 7 who have been identified as gifted and talented in Art, Music, Dance or Drama. SMAART squared is an advanced SMAART program intended to provide additional advanced instruction to students who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in their area of giftedness.  Frequently the SMAART squared programs are available to upper middle and high school students.

We are constantly developing, growing and,  expanding the opportunities for our Artistically gifted students so hopefully you will begin to see more of these programs available.
